I've had opportunities to kayak and explore new places,
some that I'd like to visit time and time again. Here are a sampling:

K
elly's Island - Lake Erie, USA

Situated off the coast of northern Ohio, Kelly's Island has become a yearly destination for an annual Poker Paddle event that, when good weather permits, takes participants around the eight-square mile island. Many gather, wherever possible, to watch the sunsets. Perry's monument can be seen in the distance to the west.

Getting there is made possible by ferry from Marblehead. There's a great roadside farm market on the way for last minute food supplies. Pack your boat, camping gear and bike and be prepared for any type of weather! For a ferry schedule, visit this link.

There is a lot to do on the island including bicycling, camping, kayaking, exploring the glacier grooves, and fishing.

The annual Poker Paddle in late September draws many paddlers out for a weekend or more of camping, eating and time to re-connect. If the weather permits, every paddler circumnavigates the island in around 3 hours.

The island's stone quarries are fun to explore and provide a quiet place to relax.

Ahhh. the beginning of another day in paradise.
