I've had opportunities to kayak and explore new places, some that I'd like to visit time and time again. Here are a sampling:
I had the chance to paddle and camp with a group of friends to Warren, Pennsylvania. The Fall air was crisp and the trees were ablaze with color. When we arrived, I was astonished to see that the water level was approximately 10 to 12 feet lower than normal. With kayaks packed, we headed north to the camp site, making way with a steady cool wind in our faces. The shoreline was covered in rock and gravel. After an hour of paddling, we nosed into a bay where camping is permitted. The camp site was located up in a pine woods with a clean, modern relief station. Our first set of chores included a group gathering of fire wood. The temperature dropped to the low 30’s overnight. To keep warm the next day, most of us lounged on the rocks in the warm sun like lizards. Many of the rocks had excellent fossils of marine life. In the morning, as the fog began to lift, I built this rather large inukshuk from slabs of rock.
